Project Description
Logistics is a complex industry that involves many variable factors. UK Global Freight contacted us, with a brief to design an app that would enable them to monitor all aspects of their business, not only saving costs, but making it more efficient.
We developed a web-based planning and scheduling system that could be accessed via the internet, so no software (and installation) was needed. This displays a planning dashboard that shows all the scheduled vehicles that are in planned, complete and in progress, with a colour key dialogue to identify status differences. To aid planning and scheduling, there’s a holiday module for staff, as well as a workflow approval system. So the viewer can see at any one time when staff may be required.
Databases are included, for clients, drivers and vehicles. Meanwhile, it’s possible to see journeys in progress – the GPS can track vehicles and a route planner that can incorporate multiple drops.
However, in case circumstances change, the planner can accommodate status changes. A very useful feature for logistics is the cost estimator that takes into account mileage, fuel consumption and duration, etc. When the job is done, there’s an invoicing module. The app includes signature capture for POD – this is stored against bookings.
Clients have access to the desktop portal to view/store PODs and invoices. All aspects of the journey are accessible, enabling forward planning, contingency response and cost monitoring.
